October days get short fast, and the clock change makes evenings arrive even earlier. Schedule parks, viewpoints, walking routes, and markets before mid-afternoon; save museums, food halls, shows, and long dinners for after dark.
Check the clock-change weekend
Most of Europe sets clocks back one hour early on Sunday 25 October; the US and Canada follow on 1 November. Recheck early trains, flights, tour start times, and phone alarms that weekend, and remember friends across the Atlantic are one hour closer for that week.

Frieze week will crowd Regent's Park and nearby stays
Frieze London and Frieze Masters bring almost 300 galleries to The Regent's Park, with an invitation-only preview on 14 October and ticketed days from 15 to 18 October. The free Frieze Sculpture trail stays in the park until 1 November: walk it in daylight, then book central dinners early instead of crossing London twice in one evening.
